Milan (Italy)

6th International Conference on Biocatalysis in Non-Conventional Media

Announcement on COVID-19: BNCM 2020 postponed to better times

Milan, 17th March 2020

Dear Colleagues, Sponsors, Authors and Guests,

in the past few weeks, we have been closely monitoring the situation in Europe with respect to Covid-19 (new Coronavirus) to assess the risks associated with our the 6th International Conference on Biocatalysis in Non-Conventional Media – BNCM2020.

Measures set in place by authorities along with uncertainty about resolution time prompted us to decide to postpone the 6th International Conference on Biocatalysis in Non-Conventional Media – BNCM2020 to better times.

The Conference has raised a good deal of interest, and we thank each of you for that; however, the current situation leaves us no other option than to re-schedule BNCM2020.

We apologize for the inconvenience and hope we can count on your support and understanding.

We will keep working on the Conference with the aim to maintain as much as possible the current scientific programme (Invited Speakers, Selected Speakers and Poster Presenters).

The postponed conference will take place in Milan, Italy, as originally planned.

The new conference dates will be communicated as soon as possible.

We are actively working  to determine the appropriate dates to reschedule the 6th International Conference on Biocatalysis in Non-Conventional Media. We will publish the new dates of the BNCM 2020 as soon as they have been finalized.

Information and updates will follow in due course and will be published in the Conference website.

We hope to welcome you in Milano, soon!

Our warmest wishes,

The Organizing Committee of BNCM 2020

Sergio Riva, Francesco Secundo, Francesco Molinari, Daniela Ubiali

Following the last edition of BNCM in 2017 (Rostock, Germany), BNCM2020 aims at carrying on a almost 35-year tradition of excellent science, initiated in 1986 by the European Section on Applied Biocatalysis (ESAB) of the European Federation of Biotechnology (EFB) in Wageningen (The Netherlands).

Enzymes for industrial applications (agro-food, pharma, textile, detergency, biosensors, biofuels) often require non-conventional environments. Biotransformations in organic solvents, ionic liquids, gaseous media, but also in water- and solvent-free systems, or the need for enzyme compartmentalization as in multi-phase systems and flow-based bioprocesses are just some examples.

The programme of BNCM 2020 will include invited lectures delivered by internationally recognized speakers, both from academia and industry, oral and poster sessions dedicated to the selected abstracts.

We are delighted and very honored to announce that the Nobel Prize Laureate for Chemistry 2018, Prof. Frances H. Arnold (California Institute of Technology, USA), will join BNCM 2020 as the keynote speaker.
